I had the same [censored] hapen to me. Marty was great and replaced the y-pipe but I am still skeptical of the new coating. If someone can host some pics for me think I have some pics of the new pipe that has been installed since may. There is a bit of corrosion starting to form so I'm not sure how these will last the winter either.
I also have the same corrosion on the headers now and I'm really interested in hearing what marty does for you. Right now I'm kinda pissed since marty stated in an e-mail back before I bought them that winter driving would not be a problem. I really wish I still had that email!!!

Does HPP have headers, or are you talking about the exhaust manifold that comes with the turbo?
We will have a non-turbo Y or X pipe for those people that just want headers. Yes, I said "X pipe". That is if there is a demand. We still need to get the turbo kits sold. I honestly do hope MSDS has some new/better way for ceramic coating. I'm wondering if it would be cheaper for them to just use at LEAST T304 instead of mild steel with coating.

Sorry dude, totally sucks. Not to sound like an optimist, but were the performance gains enough to justify the AGONY?
Going to call MSDS this week.
Replaced with those pictured on left (SHMs).
Not worth the agony.
has this experience changed your perceptions at all?

Yes. My suggestion would be to go with MSDS and have them jet-coated. Although the SHMs feel more powerful (placebo affect maybe?).
showtime, I'm not sure if SHM still sells them or not. Might want to drop them an email. But check out the link FrenchBlue posted re: the install process before you take on SHMs!

Hey Pete - you finally swapped in the SHMs, eh? How do you like them? My Y-pipe has a few of those spots on it, but nothing as bad as yours, Pete. Certainly not as bad as Evan's...I got mine in Nov. of '01, and I'm pretty sure it's the new coating. If it isn't, and it starts lookin' crappy, I'll just take it off and remove the coating. I'll replace it w/ 1300 F engine paint. I don't think it'll be necessary, though. (Damn, for $600 it SHOULDN'T!!)

Don't forget how the support strap is welded to the tubes. It should be a strap that is bent around part of the tube, not joined to it. Someone experienced a break there too. Maybe the new MSDS design took care of that, too.

That was me. Still attached to the pipes, but now attached to both. I got one of the first ones that was attached to both and that broke too. Now the piece is even bigger.
