thanks Scott
I am sure it is closing properly...though leakage may be an issue. I'll have to try and seal the o-rings on the center post with something and see if that helps.
I think I should reiterate that the higher idle only lasts for a few seconds, then the car idles perfectly. I could see a leak creating a CONSTANT high idle as more air would be getting through, but could that cause my little TEMPORARY throttle hang?

Did you put a 65mm TB on?
Is the bypass leaking? Is the gasket leaking above the 65mm since the 65mm does not cover the entire UIM TB opening? Is the throttle plate completely closing?
Yes you have to change the TH fix when changing TB's. Yes you have to reset the computer. Yes it takes at least 3 driving cycles for it to relearn. Yes you have to run the A/C (at idle) during one of them.

It was not broke; Yet I fixed it anyway.

Stocker is back on, somewhat optimized, not 65mm. The computer has had plenty of time to re-learn. I'm going to play with the TH fix and check everything for leaks.

disconnect the negative battery cable, right, but make sure you give it a good 20 mins.

Sounds like the IAC valve is sticking. Pull it off and clean it out.
I had this very problem and the IAC valve was all gunked up. 1500 rpm idle is very annoying! For a while, blipping the throttle would get it to come down, but after a while even that didn't work.
