Hi all!
I have a 2000 Mercury Mystique with the V6 engine. It just turned 30K miles and I was wondering if I should change the plugs?
Secondly, how the hell do you get to the plugs by the firewall. The angle looks quite impossible to get a wrench on those plugs.
Does anyone have tips to offer?

Ford says that the plugs do not need to be changed until 100,000 miles.
I changed mine at 60,000 and again at 120,000 miles. They were not badly worn. I recommend 60,000 miles.

Be sure you take note of the wire locations on the coil before removal. I had reversed #'s 5&6 and the engine did not sound too good at restart. Its 3-2-1 and 4-6-5.

I just changed my plugs and wires today. I picked up a 12" extension with the spark plug socket with a swivel already connected to it at Autozone for about $6.00. Took me no more than 10 minutes to do the plugs. But, at least another 30 minutes to do the cables. And be careful when removing the cable by the firewall as you may snap a little electrical connection just above plug 2.

I found no need to remove the coil pack or more than one wire at a time, or to use a swivel. Used a 10" extension with a new socket, and taped them together because the new socket held the plugs so tightly. The old plugs take a lot of torque to break out. They looked real good after 53K miles, and the biggest gap was .063"

Did mine this weekend and the only reason I had to move the coil pack was to get a grip on the last stinkin plug-boot to pull it off. Other than that, a pretty quick job.

I took a small piece of clear hose from home Depot about the same diameter of the sparkplug well and Duct taped it to my Shop vac and cleaned out the wells.
I found that even after removing the plugs, small amounts of debris woulds break off the outer edges of the plug.
Take a look with a flashlight!
With the plug removed I did not want to blow it out with air. Vacume did a gread job.
