I know alot of people say the SCA/SMA CAI get killed by heat soak, which I have learned. Yet wouldn't the BAT Pipe also get killed by heat soak?? Isn't the ideal material the rubber accordian tube already or plastic???
Does that heat shielding materail really help against heat soak? Or does it slow it down??

I think heat soak is a problem on the Contour no matter what you do. I think if you run a pipe down to where the "Cold-Air" intake goes, as soon as the rad. fan turns on the hot air from there blows all over the air filter. BTW, I think rubber would do a better job of fighting the heat then metal. The real problem is the temp. EVERYWHERE under the hood of the car. The intake manifold, the air, and the air filter, all of it is hot. Adding a metal tube, or a "Cold-Air" isn't going to help in my opinion. I really don't know if there is much you can do on the Contour to get cold air to the intake. I could be wrong...

Our pipes are not "cold air" systems. What our pipe allows is the V6 user to get rid of the accordian(ridges) rubber tube = less turbulance. Plus it doesnt hurt that it looks great. :p
