I found my problem, like others BOTH tailights are leaking. I fixed the pass side with a generous portion of RTV silicone. It is very cold here in the midwest so I am waiting to re-do and re-test the drivers side when it gets above freezing.
This is a simple fix to a real problem. I think because the prior owners had a wreck in the rear (I found masking tape on the inner fender aroung the black vent) the tailights were off a bit. In my car you need to jam the tail lights outward away from the middle then tighten the screws (the holes are slotted) . Just a little tiny gap will let in lots of water!

Another thing - with all the posts on this common problem, they should put this in the how-to section of this web page. How to stop your trunk leak.

Well I'm back as is the trunk leaks. I thought just a little silicone would fix it but as it turns out that did not work, so now I think I will have to make some new foam gaskets for the tail lights. This is a real downer of a problem. Anyone fixed this problem?

I finally got my trunk leak fixed. It was leaking from both tail lights.
I went to an autoglass supply store and bought a $10 roll of 3M gasket. It looks like black licorice (sorry for the spelling) the candy --- you know. It's that gasket stuff that is super sticky that they put your windshield glass in.

Ripped off the factory gasket and used the windsheild gasket stuff.

Don't use silicone because it takes forever to get it off and it leaks too.

3M ---- Dry as a bone now!

i used silicon, and as long as it has time to dry, well, it never leaks if you do a good job. Mine both leaked, on my 95, and my 99. they both no longer leak.
