The end plates mimic the "wings" on the Cougar.
Jeff built that stuff for me.. We installed the bottom brackets first, then built the bar "up" so we could see where the end plates would have to be. Then Jeff cut the square pieces to size and bolted them to the bar. He tack-welded them to some flat pieces that we taped on the strut towers, and then built a brace for the back that he also tack-welded to those pieces.
We unbolted the brackets and Jeff seam-welded everythying, then I ground them, primed and painted them. When view the brackets from the top they have a triangular shape. Once we bolted everything back on the bar, Jeff tack-welded the brackets to the strut towers and we left it like that.
