All I ever broke was the diff. I put in a Quaife and problem solved. My trans has been fine. Just wondering. I thought the MTX was a pretty good tranny.

Just like most manual gearboxes, the MTX-75 has it's quirks. This thread is mostly aimed toward a hose breaking on an aftermarket modification that adds a pressurized lubircation system to many key points of the gearbox.

The quaife is good for most everyone, but this adds extra protection by constantly lubricating the sychros and other areas that can be prone to fatigue.

On the mtx75 being a 'pretty good tranny'. I'd have to say it's a damn good tranny, but it sees lots of abuse (not attacking anyone) by enthusiasts like ourselves.

I doubt any elderly contour owners have broken their diffs.
