My brother has a jensen 2 10" box from wal-mart but no car currently, so I'm thinking of using them, though I have no amp and no money for an amp.... Can I splice some wire into the rear speaker connections and have both rear door speakers (pioneers) and subs running at same time? will they both receive the 50 or so watts my HU gives out? or will it split the wattage?

eek.. i don't think that would be a fun idea. If you wire both the door speakers and the subs in parallel, you're gonna get yourself a fried HU. If you wire them in series, you'll have 4 underpowered speakers, that won't sound too fun. I say have your brother buy an amp, so you can use it also.
Also, you'd need a xover for the subs. Unless it's a full range box. But either way, you've got yourself a lot of problems if you tried to push all speakers in the car with just the HU.

the amp should have a crossover built in unless it is one of those rampage ones from ames or something.

I had that box before and if it's free its all right. I blew both Jensen subs with a kenwood 4 series amp. I ran the same box with two xtant subs and kicker amp and blew plexiglass right out after a couple days. You could run them in series but make sure you hook the correct wires from the back door speakers up.

If you're curious to see how it sounds then you can disconnect the rear speakers and connect those channels to the subs. Don't know if it's worth the work though unless you have extra time on your hands and you're REALLY curious. Don't connect it parallel with the rears for sure!

Thanks,, don't wanna blow the HU,, I may wire it up and just leave rear disconnected since they don't do much in our cars anyways....my brother has no money or car right now and is in debt so he won't be buying an amp, he had one but couldn't get it to work or it was broken,, it helped pay for a dvd player...the box from wal-mart came with cracked plexiglass, good ol' wally world, i may just wait to get pioneer subs,, i think for the money they can't be beat. i know the pioneer door speakers can't be beat for the money

yeah, that's what I thought too untill I bought components for little more than I spent on the pioneers of ebay. Pioneer subs are turds compared to alot of stuff out there. I personally don't think their speakers have the best sound for the money.
I would check out ikesound.com for some other options. The infinity kappa speakers there are cheap and they definitally sound better than the pioneers that I had up front.
I don't mean to come off as rude, I just think you may do better if you do a little looking around.

my pioneers were best for money on speakers sold locally, that's a better way to put it.
