BTW, can the X-Type R be far behind?

Here's my short list:
WRX STI
EVO VII

I'd like to see how Infiniti's G35 evolves over the next couple of years (TURBO that mofo!)

These would be my two choices right now. Of course, I'd have to test drive them first. smile

Hmmm...decommissioned and rebuilt Crown Vic Interceptor police cruiser. Tighten up the suspension with some quality components and call it the Super Contour.

Land Rover Freelander

Supercharged Miata

Heck, I'd probably just get another Contour.

Don't forget, that Altima is available with a manual, too. smile If it weren't for the WRX, the Altima SE 5spd (or is it 6spd???) would be my easy pick for the $23-28K range
Yep, sorry if my post wasn't clear. All the cars I listed are "family cars with a decent engine (i.e. powerful, smooth V6) and a MTX" -- I was responding to Seamore's post that the Status R/T was the only such new car out there.

Currently: '00 Altima SE and '02 Maxima SE

Coming up: '03 Infiniti G35 Coupe 6-speed

Find someone who's crazy enough to part with their low mileage SVT Contour. Try to find a 2000 model. Buy an extended warranty. Don't modify the engine internals, and don't drive it like you just stole it on a regular basis. It'll then last you a loooong time.

1998 EO SVT, silver frost, stock
2002 Ashcroft Homes Albany model, that's why the SVT is stock!

That's exactly, PRECISELY what I did six months ago. smile

[Oops, I *do* drive it like I stole it sometimes...Well, spirited accelleration runs anyway; the tach visits six grand at least once every few days...]

If anyone with an SVT does not drive the car like it is supposed to, they should sell the car and use public transportation. Blasphomy!
