NOT TRUE...

Once you connect the battery and turn the key to the ON position,
there are several KOEO (Key On Engine Off) tests that your PCM runs through.
If any of these tests fail, it could provide leads to short
or open circuits, or mismatched sensors.

ANY TIME you apply power to the PCM, it runs its own diagnostics.
What do you think OBD stands for ?

I stand corrected, thanks.

When posting I was only thinking of stored codes, not ones that would/could develop as you have suggested.
