Its has no movement untill just under 6000 rpm's.Is this normal.Just to be sure,the movement you are talking about is like a rolling over movement like its rolling open?

Not sure if the SVT is the same as the SE, but the Ford TSP for the 96 SE says the following about the IMRC:

-- Below 2800 rpm, this valve plate is closed to improve low speed and cold engine performance.

-- Above 3500 rpm, this valve plate opens to improve high speed engine performance.

96 Contour SE Duratec V6 24-valve 2.5L ATX 108,000 mi. Replaced: crankshaft w/ DMD, EGR valve (clogged), EVR, DPFE, PCV valve, evap emissions hose & tube (cracked), window regulator (broken), LH & RH PCV tubes, UIM gasket (leak), ignition coil

This is also from the Ford TSP:

PERFORM IMRC OPERATIONAL TEST

* Perform the necessary safety precautions to start engine.
* Apply parking brake and block wheels.
* Key on, engine running.
* Rev engine to above 3500 RPM.

CAUTION:
Keep fingers clear of IMRC lever/cable mechanism.

* When engine speed is above approximately 3500 RPM, both levers should rotate to full open position. At least one lever should contact the wide open stop, the other may be slightly off the wide open stop. This is normal. When engine returns to idle (or below 3000 RPM), both levers must contact Closed Plate Stop Screw.

* Did the IMRC levers cycle from fully closed to fully open when the RPM was above 3500?

Yes
Passed operational test.

It's not the plugs.It has to be the IMRC,the car is fine at first thenin just a little bit nothing. Its like it hits 4000rpm's and it falls flat no power.After reading other post it made me rethink and it has to be the IMRC.Any opinions.Does this sound right to anyone else.
