I picked up my 98 SVT Contour last from Midas. I had all the exhaust hardware upgraded to 2 1/2 inch stainless as well as some Z33 Ravin's with 4 inch OD chrome tips with carbon fiber inserts. The thing sounds awesome. Very deep and throaty. It was late, after 10PM, and the mechanic asked me to get on it as I went by the shop. I did! And I kid you not, I had a cruiser on me from out of nowhere with his blues on eek . He did not ticket me but asked me all kinds of questions about the car. He said he was bored and was looking for something to do. Nice enough guy. Just thought I would share.
Thanks

What kind of questions did he ask? You lowered? Did he tell you to change your exhaust?
Just wondering.

WOW! Midas does stainless?!? I'm surprized. How much did it run you?

BTW, sometimes it seems like cops have nothing better to do. Glad to hear that you didn't get a ticket.

All told it cost me $480. But $100 was for the two tips. The cop didnt ask about the cat at all. I think the problem was that it was late and in NH it gets very quiet after 10PM. So when I jumped on the throttle the noise was amplified by the silence. Like I said, the cop was nice enough, he just asked questions about the car like "What kind of springs did you replace the stock with?" "Did you add an open air element?" those types of questions.
The mechanic I had do the work is a pro. He loves this kind of stuff so he was happy to do the work. adding that quarter inch diameter on all the piping was the best thing I have done so far. What a difference.

LOL the cop was bored and looking for something to do. I wish the cops here in Naperville were like that.

To CobraR

I live in Exeter. I was part of this group a couple of years ago but forgot my user name and password. It has been a long time since I posted anything.

D@mn! You live in Exeter? I work in Durham. You should come by the NE-CEG branch forum and say hi to all your fellow New Englanders! We'd love for you to come to a meet. I'll tell you right now, those who go to one meet end up going to a bunch, cause were such cool kids!! jk. Seriously though, our group is one of the strongest in CEG. We have a tentative schedule for the summer for major meets, with smaller ones happening almost every fair weather weekend. Two events to note are:

3rd annual NE-CEG round up at Fun Ford Weekend @ New England Dragway in Epping NH. Aug. 17 & 18.

2nd annual NE-CEG fall meet at Watchusett MT. Date is TBD. This one is fun cause we boot through the back roads with all the fallen leaves whipping up behind about 15 Tours and cougars!

SO come on over to NE-CEG and check us out!!
