The blue line is awesome when coming back from Logan around 11 or 12 at night. Better be on your guard. The Maverick stop is a little spokey... Buuuaaaaahahahahahahaha!!!

Come on now...

You guys make Boston sound like it's South Central L.A.

Boston is still one of the safest, crime free cities in the country.

Now I know there are people that have spent time in other major cities in this country.

Fess up...Boston in mostly a cake walk in comparison...

No?

I would have to agree Rob. I have been to cities all over the world and Boston is certainly one of the safest.

Ah yes, Boston driving ranks as WORST out of all my travels. Sure the traffic is considered worse in LA and San Fran, but the driving conditions in Boston are the worst I have ever seen. The Orlando area is pretty close with all the tourists and foreigners trying to get around!!!!!!!

People always ask me what it is like driving in New York City and I tell them it is a breeze compared to Boston and they just stare at me in amazement. Round abouts, streets running all over the place, 6 way intersections, unmarked intersections!!!!! My GOD!!!!!

Hyde Park actually has a higher violent crime rating than Compton. based on number of violent crimes per capita. Chelsea ain't much better!

but as a whole, Greater Boston is a very safe place. i agree.

and driving in the city really isn't that bad. you just have to pay attention and drive defensively. and steer clear of mini-vans. they are either delivering something and are lost or are a family of 7 looking for Fenway.

and JE, you're right about the orange line, but the "ghetto" as you call it definitely doesn't start at sullivan. it's not till you get past the Mass Ave stop and head towards Roxbury.

the red line is sketchy after south station.
and the entire blue line is sketchy to me.

Hey now...that's where I live...

Ok, you're right

I started the search for an apt today. Checked out some places in Belmont. Absolute shite. I guess 1200 get's you a dump for 2 bedrooms here. Tomorrow I'm headed to Cambridge to look at 1 bed rooms. I'd like a place close to the redline and not too far from Hanscom.

Anyone know of any great deals (if there is such a thing).

The USAF is giving me about 1200 a month to pay for housing. Man I could be living high of the hog back in Texas on 1200.

Take care

JE

Mike (CobraR) used to live at Harbor Point in Dorchester for $1,200 a month in a 2 bedroom apartment (2 full bathrooms too). Located right next door to the Bayside Expo Center.
It was actually a really nice place. relatively new.
It's one of those apartment complexes with a gate at the front, etc.
It has its share of subsidized housing and its own "ghetto" feel, but still overall, it's a very decent place to live.

Yeah, I used to live south of South Station on the Red Line at Harbor Point Apartments. Not too bad of a place. I personally wouldn't live there now because I now have the SVT. I love Boston though. I lived there for 4 years while going to college and it was fun. My favorite bars are The Pour House, Cactus Club, and The Littlest Bar on Providence St. near the new Suffolk Law building.

Here's an idea, and I think that this might appeal to lots of NE-CEGers seeing that beer and golf are involved. Lets all get together for a Boston meet. Of course this by no means that we all need to bring our beloved tours on those streets, in fact I suggest bringing a beater if you got one or car pool. Anyway, lets do Beer Golf !! heheh. If you haven't heard of beer golf, its when a bunch of people go to either 9 or 18 different bars and have 1 different drink at each one throughout Boston. Maybe before we start a night of $hittyness we could all go to a famed north end restaraunt. Does this idea sound good? We of course would need a few designated drivers who will at least dink a little less .
