I'll be daring and try removing the pre-cats one day. I'm just kinda curiuos about the smog check. I wanna know what they look for. So it wont' be until after registration next year I guess.
The main cat I was thinkin of just shoving a straight pipe through. That way it looks like it exists, but doesn't function like it

and i really need to get a y-pipe.

I agree with everyone on the fact that california has to many pollution restrictions, I just removed my cats with MSDS headers and a SHO shop off road pipe. The only thing that is saving me from the smog laws are the fact that I am in the miltary and I am still a resident of Colorado. I think that California is getting way out of control with all of the smog laws, and I feel sorry for all you guys that can't get rid of your Cats because it brought my car to life when I did that.

I am slightly confused. I have read a lot of post here lately, and I have heard reference to two things that I cant seem to figure out. Some people refer to resonators, I assume these to be the empty bulges between the actual head and the boltup to the Y pipe.

I was looking around here to see if Chris had anything nice to say about Boston and I came across this. The resonator is the center muffler in the exhaust system. It is part of the cat-back portion of the exaust. If you look under your car after the main cat, you will see a large muffler almost directly in the center if the car. This is what people refer to as the resonator.

Back to New England.....
