Can someone give me a good explanation of how to double clutch? And or tell me what the best rpm is to launch when your racing, or what do you do?
we are on a mission, with overtones of extreme personal danger

my understanding of double clutching is this:depress clutch, put into neutral, and release clutch. rev engine, depress clutch, and put into lower gear. alternately, you could just put in the clutch once and rev it up WHILE you're taking it out of the higher gear and putting it into a lower gear. also, to the best of my knowledge, you don't double clutch ushift, yuo powerr shift, that is, you don't completely let up of the gas while shifting, you rev it while the clutch is in. also, for countours, i've heard anywhere from 2k-3k is good for launching rpm's. let the flames begin

If Dom Toretto says you should do it, you should do it.

Double clutching is mainly used in road racing (correct me if I'm wrong), but in TF&TF it was used in the wrong context.
As previously stated, double clutching helps get everything in 'synch' better. 1-2....As shifting from one to two, as you are passing thru the neutral gate, let up on the clutch, as you go into second again push it in. That in short, is double clutching.
I think Mamba was trying to refer to 'rev matching'. Which is while downshifting, pushing the gas pedal to where the RPMs will be when engaged in the next lower gear, which gives you smoother down shifting.
Powershifting, is keeping it to the floor while shifting. Some like, some don't. I've had good success with it.
As for launching. Play with it. 2500-3000 is about the best with a little clutch slippage.

You only need to double clutch if you have a transmission that does not have syncros.

Amen to that Shaun.. ..why make your driving more complicated? There's already enough things to pay attention to.. Unless you're racing a non-synchro 16 speed big rig?

Double clutching is a very old concept when engines were much less powerful.....that is why you don't need to worry about it.
