Dude, you need to post your baloney stuff on a Pontiac site. Yes, they stopped making your car to produce the AZTEC. THe Aztec??????? What is an Aztec???
Actually, you're wrong on many counts here. SVT is a great team, but they should stick to Cobras and Lightnings, stay away from the grocery getters (Contour, Focus...). Congratulations on the limited production car, my S/E 6000 is a limited production car also, there were only 140 AWDs in 1988. Since when is $23,000 so great for a car price? The average new car now is well over 26. Also, your SVT may have been 23,000, but that's still $7000 less than what my 6000 was when it was brand new. Also, they didnt quit making the 6000 because it was replaced by anything (and I dont know how the HELL you think the Aztek replaced it, the last 6000 was 1991, the first Aztek was 2000) but I guess you could say that it was indirectly replaced by the Grand Prix, since the first 4-door GP was 1989. And, you shouldnt talk, do you know what the Contour was replaced by? the Focus. The Focus and the Escape. I can safely say that the ConTique is 10X better than the Focus, but still...

I think it's obvious here that comparing the two cars is like comparing apples to oranges. Cool Blue, I think your car is cool and frankly I would own it if I could get it in a manual...BUT this is a Contour site. Your talk of this car and impossible comparisons to the Contour are igniting the heated responses. Honestly there were probably fewer Monte Carlos optioned like mine built in 1979 than AWD 6000's in 1990 or whatever, but I don't go on about that here. People don't want to hear about my Monte on contour.org...that's what montecarloss.com is for! I'm sure there is a 6000 site where your car is much more appreciated. Give it a rest man. EVERYONE give it a rest, please. There are better things to talk about.

I can't believe I just read 10 pages of this BS. Who really cares, take this horsesh** to a pontiac site and let all the GTP owners ride your ass. We don't care. I also drive a 01 Mountaineer and a 73 Vette, do you guys ever here me talk about those? Every vehicle made by every manufacturer was designed to fit in to one particular niche of the market. What the 6000's niche was, well I won't say, I don't like to bash peoples mothers.

In reply to:
That has got to be the most immature comment I have ever read on here. That's like when some 9 year old told me that Hockey was the only sport where your number matched your IQ, again, very immature.
No...the immature (and ignorant) comments would have been calling the SVT the "metro ss." Hahahahah....no. You clearly have no idea what you're talking about. Even though the SVT is technically a better car than your standard Contour/Mystique, they are ALL excellent handling cars, matched with good power (atleast in the V6 form). Even more deserving of praise is how well these cars handle despite being Front Wheel Drive as well...But when you talk about the SVT (MY CAR), atleast so us the decency to pull your head out of your @$$ first! You clearly have no concept of a purpose built car. This is not meant to be a tire laying, gas gussling, racket making, drag strip beast. No....even coletti himself (in regards to the contour) said that the goal of SVT was to take a standard ford engine and turn it into a gem. It's an experience driving the car...the sounds, the handling is impecable, excellent highway power (don't rag on the car as being slow because you drive a damn slushbox atx!), free revving engine...not to mention 4 doors and a giant trunk to haul alot of crap in. You can drive this car down to a road course, run circles around honda's, acura's, maybe even give bimmers a good run for their money...then pack it in and drive it home. I would argue, aside from this being probably the best handling front wheel driver ever made...it's one of the best handling cars ever produced by ford. Period. It might have failed here...well, that sucks..but that's because most americans have the same lack of intelligence that you do. And ford never marketed it because IIRC they originally planned to sell them for 5 years and take it from there. THe mondeo completely kicks ass....and the duratec has moved into several other cars produced by Ford. If it were such a POS and they don't last long, why keep the motor for the best selling taurus (which as a family car take one hell of a beating?) or the escape? Furthermore I would like to add that you have no concept behind the history of this car, where it came from or how popular it was. I won't take the time to draw you a diagram now either. People inside ford were fighting tooth and nail to get on the Contour platform....and take a trip to SVT HQ and tell me how many SVT contours you see in the parking lot. It's still one of their favorite cars. It seems to me you shouldnt be at an enthusiast site for a car you're not enthusiastic about. In closing I would like to say, DUDE NOBODY CARES ABOUT YOUR (MOMS) STUPID PONTIAC 6000 AWD WITH 140HP AND 180FT LB/S TORQUE!!! If you like it so much, sell your (moms) mystique, and drive that until it doesn't go anymore. The cars don't compare. PERIOD! Originally I wanted to post for people to let it slide and leave you alone...but you're really freaking annoying! Your stupidity overwhelms me. Now I can see why this post just keeps growing and growing!! However, I would like to beg the moderators to close this utterly retarded post...delete it even. This is exactly the pointless squabbling Lance and other mods were complaining about when it was being contemplated to shut this site down...so, why is it allowed to go on??? Please stop this garbage.....

Now I know alot of people aren't going to like what I'm about to say, but would you mind telling me what made the Contour 10x better than the Focus? Contour was a great car and always always be remembered fondly by me, but it is not a better car, it was much faster though . I can't say it was worse either. Keep in mind the Focus replaced the Escort (It did not replace the Contour, that market segment has no Ford in it presently) I am more than confident in saying, however, that if the Contour were not axed, the present version would more than likely trounce a Focus in all aspects.
As for SVT staying away from the Contour/Focus? You are nuts, they are both class leaders in thier time. People compared the Contour SVT to BMW and Audi in comparison tests and it did remarkably well at half the price. The Focus dominates in comparison testing because of it's handling is spot on. It would be a shame if these models did not exist because they are truly great cars
By the way your car was replaced by a Gran Prix? Well the Tempo was replaced with a Contour. In both cases a crappy car was replaced by a good one.

Tribute to the uglies.
What the owners look like. He is doing an excellent job lining up those corners. Craftmanship counts people. Know that.
Tickle me pink. Only of those tails were blacked out.
