I was wondering after looking at pictures of the focus and contours engines (zetec) what performance parts can you buy for the focus and put on a 1997 Contour GL (CAI, TB, etc.)

I think that most engine internals for the focus are compatible with the contour, but most other stuff is not. I have heard the the AEM short ram intake works but requires modification(I don't know any specifics though) I know for sure that the focus TB will not work, but BNoon can optimize your existing one with pretty good results. If Anything else comes to mind just ask, I have been researching this topic for quite a while since I own two non focus zetecs.

True about the AEM intake, I was reading MadMole's page about him fitting it onto his Mondy. Apparently he had to use a few parts off of his K&N kit to make it all work. Mad Moles Molemobile From what Westland Ford tells me (I saw the pictures on his computer) the `96 Contour and the `00 Focus have different intake manifold gasket designs. Apparently the Contour has more of a oval shape and the Focus has a square port. In theory you could put the WRC exhaust header onto your car but you would melt the paint off of your hood. Steeda has some pulleys that look like they would bolt right onto the Contour's engine. A Focus EGR valve bolts right onto the Contour's engine, I know this for a fact, my car has one. The older `tours also have hydraulic lifters compared to the mechanical lifters in the newer engines. Burton Power's cataloge was saying that the split was 98, but I don't know if that would apply in the US or not. I could be backwards on the cam part, but I don't think so. I will look for my cataloge so I will know I am right.
