Running the engine with the fuel pump fuse removed only relieves the fuel pressure. It does not suck the fuel out of the filter or fuel lines. This must be what my shop manual refers to by "connecting the MFI Fuel presure gauge to the pressure relief cap on the supply manifold" to "relieve system pressure".
I can see where there will still be a lot of fuel left in the lines.
