would it be feesable to attempt to swap this engine into the contour? with a tranny swap i'd assume, since i doubt the cd4e or mtx75 will bolt. what raises my interest is the 3.0l v6 and 3.4l v8 both fit in the newer gen tauruses...... could they possibly both work in the tour?

I believe I saw an article that said they DO bolt up to the tranny, but I may be remembering incorrectly, let me see if I can find that article.
Here is one reference
It seems they are not the same as the SHO engine.
Actually, seems they ARE the same, look about halfway down on this page

ok so the bolt pattern is the same wich means with a little terry haines wizzardry one probably wouldnt have to tranny swap.
now would it fit? take away the ac compressor, battery, things you can stuff elsewhere etc... anyone got an educated guess? and would power gains with a straight swap from 2.5 to v8 be worth the effort over say snagging up a 3l dtech?

I'd be impressed with someone willing to put enough work into this to get an engine that is 33% longer (give or take) to fit under the hood of a Contour. Don't forget - the Taurus likely has more room between its front tires, allowing a V6 and V8 to fit.

Why put a 235hp v8 that is unrelible in there, as far as I know a MTX won't bolt up to it (ford never offered the V8 SHO with a MTX). Just put the 220hp Yamaha V6 from a 89-95 SHO in there and put a 5-speed to it and go. That's what I'd do but then again I hate the 3.4 V8.

Will that Yamaha V6 fit in the contour? If so what kind of aftermarket is available for that engine?

not sure if it'll fit or not it's a 3.0l or a 3.2 depending on the car it comes out of. um... not much for mods but there are more for the V6 SHO than there is for the V8. check out SHOShop.com they are kinda expensive but that'll give you an idea of what's out there for the Yamaha powered SHO's.
