I changed my oil, and the cardboard under the filter trick was very helpful in avoiding spills.
I used an LP record sleeve that somebody threw out... it looked like some kinda '70s disco with a woman in white spandex on the cover. The ideal cardboard would be a bit longer and narrower.
I generally punch a hole in the top of the old filter to drain it. What do other people do with oil stuck inside the filter?
