No need to remove glove box. Just look under dash board towards the firewall on passenger side towards center and remove the one torx screw. It's only a two minute job. Also the part is inexpensive. Your blower only working on high speed is a good indication that it's your blower motor resistor. Been there, done it.

I think a further talk with dealer is necessary or call Ford.
The car has 105k and the blower resistor is a safety recall so it has no mileage limit. I called the dealership back and raised hell. They faxed me proof of my build date vs the build date in the recall and my car is not part of the recall. That saidā?¦ they will not fix it. They did say that the blower switch is covered up to 150k, if that turns out to be the problem.

1. Empty and remove glovebox (Squeeze both sides in and drop down. Should pull straight out) 2. Locate resistor pack (should be towards the left side while looking in. You will see a white pack with a wiring harness attached to it) 3. Remove one torx screw, disconnect wiring harness, and toss the old pack. 4. Check the conditions of the wiring to make sure they are in good shape. 5. Installation is reverse of above procedure.
Note: Check to make sure you don't have the car on and the HVAC switch on. The resistor will get very, very hot.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks for the step by step. It looks to be a very simple job. As soon as I get the part Iā??ll put it in and report back. Bill has not responded to my e-mail so Iā??ll call him on Monday.

Also, if your wife went, they may have tried to cheat her..yeah, it happens. Did YOU check to see if you are covered? I think it is like 6yrs, or 70K or something close to that. Check, then go back.
If you have the P/N please forward it on to me! I need the P/N of the resistor that is NOT covered under the recall. The dealer gave me one, but a double check sure would be nice. As far the wife being lied toā?¦ I had that same concern, but they faxed me proof of my cars ineligibility.

Dealer's explanation seems reasonable, catch is if they diagnose resistors you pay, if switch they pay. Behooves you to diagnose. As a matter of interest is your fan three speed or four speed?

3-speed Well I replaced the resistors and the problem continues (blows on high, but not low or medium). It must be the switch; Iā??ll stop by the dealer on Monday and setup the replacement of the switch. GLChick ā?? Thanks for the P/N: YS4Z*18591*AA REG ASY-HTR CONT $12.43 Thanks for the help! Iā??ll update for the record if the switch fixes it.

Interesting, mine are 4 speed. So it must only be the 4 speed fan resistors that are covered by the extended warranty.

Update for the records: Switch was replaced under warranty, problem fixed. On a side noteā?¦ the 95 & early 96 cars have a completely different resister pack than the recalled carsā?¦ itā??s black. The extended warranty coverage on the switch is good for 150k. Dealer has to fix it free.
