Well, got the news last night that Gus Mahon of Conn. founder of the 13 second mini van and 12 second Acclaim was killed in a motorcycle accident. Supposedly someone pulled out in front of him causing the accident. I had the opportunity to meet Gus a few times and can say he is a truly unique individual. He would always take a minute to talk and answer any questions about his vehicles. He held no secrets and would rather take 12 hours to create a few horsepower than drop 100 bucks on a new computer or trick part at the speed shop. A quote I remember from him once at th track; "The van (Dodge Caravan) is running a little slow tonight (high 13's I think), I think the plugs are fouled. I drove my family to Disney World last week and didn't get a chance to change the plugs."

Condolences his family and friends.

Roy

Darn. He frequented turbominivan.com. I even quoted one of his stories here once (the one about racing a "state cop" on I-395). That was a cool car, and he appeared to be a cool person from his stories on that site. Never saw him in person though.
