i tried to get my tranny changed since my atx cracked..they would need to cut a hole thru the firewall to fit the clutch pedal thru, then they would have to get a smaller pedal for the brake, mod the engine to equip the clutch master, manual tranny, re-gear it, cut a larger hole, from where the auto shifter is, try to fit the shifter in, and a couple other things...so i said f*ck it, and got a low geared auto i didnt want to put up with the hassle of a bad working manual, and the $1000 in labor, plus god knows how much for the clutch plate, new manual tranny, shifter, new pedals....blah blah blah..but hey, if there is someone in your town that has done it before, and succeded well, then go for it

You'd be better off swaping drivetrains if you want to do it. You have to pull everything anyway. I recommend looking for a wrecked 4 cyl and negotiate a price for the whole thing to strip it.
