I will mention the shift cable thing to Dixie Ford, but the real issue is with Ford ESP. Those jerks won't even look at my car until I sign my life away saying i am on the hook for all charges until they find a part that is broken and is in need of repair. Only then will they look my way. I video taped the issue and they still won't look at it. I have come this close to putting the beast up for sale in the past few weeks because I am so frustrated with Ford. Anyone interested in souped up SVT? I am so angry at Ford right now I do not want to have anythign to do with them except for SVT Track events. I am in the market for another vehicle right now and trust me Ford was on the list, but is now not. I will never buy another Ford again. If I could get my money back for the warranty I would. Oh well the saga continues. Fern

I will no longer take my car to Parkway Ford as well, even with the extended warranty which I purchased through them; I'd rather take my car to someone else and pay the $50 deductible. I started going to Expressway Ford in New Hamburg, even for oil changes. It is a bit of a drive, however.
I had my water pump replaced by my private mechanic (who is within walking distance of my work) last year and he was very impressed with how easy it was to deal with the extended warranty company, so I'll be taking my car to him from now on.

Not to thread-jack you Fern, but does anyone else question their loyalty to Ford when these kinds of replies and opinions dominate any "I took my car to the stealership and ... " conversations?

I questioned it the day they DIDN'T call me back to tell me my Hybrid Electric Cluster module wasn't available in North America and they had to await for it from England in a few weeks time. The days of having blind faith in my dealer and the manufacturer are gone.
I may be a bit naive, but when Ford doesn't pay attention to that SVT or Lincoln owner who put up that little bit more to drive a unique machine you wonder about the small guy with an 89 Topaz. If you can't keep the top-end customer happy, who can you keep happy?

God, not Parkway Ford. I'm hesistant to let these monkeys touch my car.... .... ...
I hear you there. I only do recall work with them. And I always double-check my car after. If you like cross-threaded fasteners, go to Parkway.

Hey Ghosst I am in the market for a new vehicle right now. Not to replace the SVT but to drive everyday and set the SVT up for more track duty. I would like a vehicle that can tow the beast..... say like an Explorer or Explorer Sport Trac. With the way Ford has treated me those two vehicles are off my list. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER FORD AGAIN......SVT OR NOT. I am loyal to myself and to my needs. I am definitely not loyal to FORD. Fern

I can't say as I'd blame you. I don't know if it helps any, but there is a difference between the FoMoCo and it's dealerships. Each one is independantly owned and operated. Ford gives the dealerships cars, guidelines, and access to their credit but doesn't actually run them. Hence why you find dealerships that do it better than others.
Now, I work in the airline industry and I've seen how often people yell and scream at the reps, wether they be service or ticket agents. It must be a hard job when the customers exepct you to get everything done perfect every time and for free. It must also be a pain to have a boss demand their employeess fill a quota of work every month. That may mean picking on naive customers here and there.
But the strange thing is Ford's customer service (and I mean the company itself) doesn't seem to be much more help. Why I don't know. But you might find Ford has some good dealerships and it's sad to say that you might have to look around for them. Every dealer is bound to be a PITA right now with Ford's bonds looking so bad. They will be trying to take more and more money from customers if they think they might be out of jobs soon.

If I understand Fern's problem it has nothing to do with the dealership itself but Ford ESP. I may be wrong but I am pretty sure this is the problem. I am sure the dealership could have done or do more. Like Ghosst said there are good and bad ones unfortunately.

It's probably a mixture of the two. On one hand, you have Ford ESP who doesn't want to acknowledge the problem...or spend the resources to look into the matter. On the other hand, you have the dealer. It's tied because you have unhappy customer...and a dingbat program that doesn't want to resolve anything. Dealer probably doesn't know what to do because they have never encountered such a problem. Asking what to do makes it look like they are inferior creating shadows of doubt on the dealership in being competent. Dunno if that made sense. I'm breaking down some Smirnoff Ice from last night
