a little confusing... I know.

what it boils down to is that the MSDS "y pipe" consists of merely piping, whereas the sho shop y-pipe includes a catalytic converter and a flex pipe and extends all the way back to the where the "cat-back" exhaust begins. A direct swap is not possible, the stock main cat will have to go back in to connect the MSDS "y-pipe" and the exhaust.
