Which ones do you recommend over the other and why?

Fidanza Ultra Lite Billet Aluminum Flywheel
or
Unorthodox Racing Ultra Light Aluminum Flywheels

I'd like to get it aftermarket ones next year instead of grinding down my current now because it might cost too much for the machining and the structural integrity of the stock flywheel might be compromised.

Is there a problem with machining the stock SVT flywheel? It doesn't cost much, but compromising the structural integrity? I don't mean to hijack your thread AirKnight but this is very alarming to me...especially since my flywheel is going to the shop this week! Anyone have any information? Terry?

Unless the m/c shop has done d/tec flywheels before I'd steer clear.M/C the stoc flywheel to lighten is not a 'cut it anywhere' job.If you don't have a m/c shop with the expertise I'd get a Fidanza..

Fidanza is better than UR? I'd like to know the reasoning too. Just want to make sure I know why I should be getting one over the other.

I have a Fidanza flywheel and just had it installed last week and I hate it. I also had a RAM Heavy Duty clutch installed with it. The thing was installed properly and it slips badly. I heard lots of horror stories about the Fidanza flywheel. RAM tells me that the slippage with the fidanza is because it was not resurfaced prior to being installed. Well a new flywheel shouldn't have to be machined. Fidanza uses such a hard compisite for the replaceable contact surface that the clutch disk just glazes over it and it never really "breaks in." You would think that resurfacing that flywheel would be easy but it's not. Since that flywheel insert has recessed holes for the screws, no machine shop will touch that. I like the feel of the Fidanza flywheel because it does have that extra HP gain but I'm not gonna risk using a different clutch and have the darn thing slip on me again. This has already cost me close to $1700 and it's going to cost more to fix the slippage. Terry Haines and others that have had this exact application tell me to just go back to the stock flywheel. Basically 1st and 2nd gear don't slip but putting it in 3rd, you'll see the tach shoot up to redline and the speedo doesn't move. YUCK!!

Has anyone out there been able to successfully use a Fidanze flywheel and if so, what clutch did you use? Was there any machining necessary for the flywheel before it was installed?

I would like to keep the Fidanza if I can but I just can't afford to keep testing out different clutches to find the one that works right.

I would switch clutches the fidenza seems to work great with every other clutch. I'll probably be going with a fidenza and centerforce clutch.

I offer PnP Heads for all durtec's details at PnPheads.com or jesse@pnpheads.com for details.
