Front Brakes:
1995 - 2000 Contour/Mystique: The 4- & 6-cylinder non-SVT cars are all equipped with 260mm x 24mm front rotors and standard size ATE calipers.

1998 - 5/1999 SVT: The early production SVT Contours are equipped with larger 280mm x 24mm front rotors and larger ATE calipers and pads*. This brake arrangement is similar to what some of the European 4wd Mondeos and Cosworth-powered Ford use.

* In our experience, approximately 1 out of 3 early production SVTs coming into the shop have the smaller, regular Contour calipers and pads. This is most likely due to these loaded calipers (with pads already installed) being grabbed by an assembly line worker not paying attention. Since they readily fit the earlier SVT, the mistake was not detected until it was time to change the pads. Click here to see how to determine which pads you have.
