As previously posted, we did a computer swap in our SVT from code SFG0 to SFG2. Now, the local Ford dealer said that if we ever wanted to go back to the original computer, we would have to go back to the dealer and have the PATS reinitialized to get the original computer to work.
Well, not, the SFG0 computer was reinstalled and the car started right back up, but only with the original key. The cut keys only work when the original key is inserted first then removed. I'm no electronics expert but I am sure someone out there knows the answer to why the keys can now start the SVT with either computer installed. wink

Hey Chris, did you have to drive the dealer on the original computer? Can they program the key with the new computer out of the car?

Yeah, I got some bolt-ons.

Yes, I did drive with the original computer and carried the newer one in hand. The ECU's were swapped, then the PATS reprogrammed for the new computer. You do not have this issue with 97 or older vehicles.

I know stock '95 doesn't even have PATS. But I got a deal on a 3L/SVT hybrid engine, and it comes complete with PCM. I'd like to swap the PCM, and take advantage of the more aggressive strategy on the SVT PCM. The biggest problem is I can't swap the PCM as easily as you can since the '95 has EEC-IV...

You are correct on the ECU swap. You pretty much need the wiring harness and all necessary electronic parts too. (ie. sensors, et al)

The wiring harnesses comes with it, probably all the sensors too. It's a '98 SVT engine. Hopefully he still has the original 2 keys, then it would make things so much easier.
