Well, I broke down and bought one yesterday, and installed it when I changed my oil this afternoon. It is a nice fit, but not perfect. I almost stripped the threads on the hole because the valve doesn't seem to be as tight as the regular plug bolt. After everything was done, the complete assembly with cap sticks out about an inch, and that gives about another inch to inch and a half room between the plug and exhaust y-pipe. I also put in the 0-W30 Mobile 1 Tri-synthetic. It does seem to run cooler. Before the idiot gauge needle would be above the "o" in normal. Now it just barely gets to the "n".
I'm impressed, but now I think I should have bought the aeroquip(sp) fitting. Well, there is always the next oil change.

Not to bash a good idea but what happens when you take the filter off, but a gush of oil goes everywhere and this defeats the purpose to me, I never have trouble with the plug just the filter spraying me. mad

I have never had oil spray or gush on me when I remove the filter...let it drain from the plug first, then remove the filter....slowly.

I turn mine very slowly and all I get for my patience is oil everywhere. Next time I might try punching a hole in the bottom of the filter and see how much I can get out that way.

The filter on the V6 remains full of oil even when the crankcase is fully drained. It's mounted at an angle so theres no way to NOT spill some oil as it is loosened. Are there really V6 owners that have oil filters that drain during an oil change??? Simon: How much oil is in your filter when you remove it during a change?

I used to do all of my own oil/lube work myself with my 'ol stang. Problem with the tour is getting it up on the ramps. Too low. I have Eibachs and can't use the ramps that I have.
What ramps or tricks does everyone use??

Cheers

I did a post on this in "General" last week but on a 2000 Mazda MPV, there is a metal shield that's bolted to the exhaust that diverts the used oil from the oil filter away from the exhaust. I'm still trying to determine if it will work on our 'tour. If not, I may try to fabricate something out of sheet metal.

It's "nearly" full of oil, but still, it has never gushed or srayed out all over the place when I remove it. I guess I'm doing somthing different, I have no idea!
