Oh, I know - I can tell a BIG difference just between daytime driving and nighttime driving. Of course, the 90+ and humid daytimes we've been having pretty much kill the motor.
I'll find out all about heatsoak and consistency in a few weeks. I'm going to run a bracket event for the first time with the open filter (and no heatshield). At least I'll be allowed to change my dial-in for every run if I need to, and that will only be a concern near the end (if I make it that far). Should be plenty of time waiting between runs at first.
