That's an option, unless you take the "premium" oil change service... laugh

Cool little gizmo, but the drain plug isn't what I dread when changing my oil, it's the filter. I wish it was like my old VW: vertically mounted filter that could be reached from above in the engine bay. Talk about mess free.

Oil filter: break seal, let oil drain everywhere (and some into the catch pan). Wait 15 minutes. Give 1/2 turn, let oil drain everywhere. Wait 15 minutes. Spin filter off, spill hot oil all over your arms when it clears the interface. Drop filter on top of the screen in the drain pan. Curse Ford for 15 minutes. Wipe oil off everything. Replace filter, while saying to yourself that at least you have 5000 miles until that happens again.
Or buy Amsoil and change the filter every 12500 miles and oil every 25000 miles.Once a year.Filter twice a year![/b]
Not even maybe! [/b]
WHy not Ive been doing it for years, did it on an SI,it had 135K on it when I traded it in.....never a problem, been doin it on the SVT since it got broke in....not ever a problem......dont be so negetive.
I have friends that sell the stuff, they have a FORD areostar with over 300k on it and never had a problem, they change it once a year also, just like AMSOIL recommends. It IS better than MOBIL 1 after all,do some reading on it youll be surprized.

I've known about Amsoil for about 20 years, its not anything new. We preformed load bearing tests with it and just about every other brand oil. In the test it did no better than any other synth. oil, However it did no worse either. I dont have a problem with the oil, its there marketing techniques I dont care for. I dont care how good the oil is the oil filter cannot filter all the contamination out of the oil for that period of time. The oil change period recomended is pure BS. Let me ask you this, Is Amsoil gonna warranty your engine if it blows following that oil change schedule? Because Ford sure isnt. smile

Never said it was something new either,as a matter of fact Amsoil was the very first syn oil out!
Besides my motor is not going to blow because of the time between oil changes. It will just last longer because I use Amsoil. You cant convince me other wise.
SORRY!
I know people who have used it for years and years
as have I.Never heard of any kind of problems.
You use the cheap stuff Ill use Amsoil.
End of story.
Thank you and have a nice day. laugh

I'm not trying to convince you to change. You made a statement concerning oil change intervals that I dont agree with. Thats all. Go to Amsoils own website, they even say the life of the oil is 7500 miles or 6 months. As for your friends Areostar so what that doesnt mean anything. I have a DSM tubo[my work car] that has 203,000 miles on it and has never had a drop of synth. oil in it,so that in itself doesnt mean anything. The engine has never had any mechanical work done to it other than timing belt changes[every 75,000 miles] and routine maint. Good luck to you and have a nice day. laugh

Right from the AMSOIL front page:
The Company of Firsts
AMSOIL has a documented history of innovation and leadership.

First to develop an API-rated 100 percent synthetic motor oil.
First to introduce the concept of "extended drain intervals" with a recommended 25,000-mile/1-year drain interval.
First U.S. company to utilize the NOACK volatility test as a standard of performance excellence.
First to produce synthetic motor oils for diesel engines, racing engines, turbo and marine engines.
First to introduce synthetic oils that legitimately contribute to improving fuel efficiency.
First to manufacture synthetic gear lube for automotive use.
First to manufacture a 100:1 pre-mix synthetic 2-cycle oil.
First to manufacture a synthetic automatic transmission fluid for automotive use
Your refering to this

Yeah I'm refering to that. I noticed that you did not post the page concerning the XL-7500, only the picture of the bottle. Post the whole page and prove what I said is wrong! They recomend changing every 7500 miles or 6 months! I dont have a problem with Amsoil so stop the infomercial. I only have a problem with your recomended change interval. Amsoil doesnt even agree with you on that! smile

They recommend 7500 on the XL-7500,not the regular AMSOIL,on it they recommend 25,000 mile change intervals.Didnt you read what I posted above,I copied it right off of the AMSOIl web site.Read it HERE!
Im right your wrong,again. laugh

Good God! Yeah I can read and I think most people here can read as well. Anybody that cares can go to the site and read the info. on the 2 oils that you showed and find the conflicting statements. There are conflicting statements on the last one you just posted concerning turbo charged engines. If you think it is OK to run your engine with the oil full of contaminates then go right ahead. I really dont care! More power to you, and as always you have a nice day. smile

AMSOil 5W30 uses Viscocity Index Improvers.

Mobil 1 5W30 does not.

Simple choice really... :p

I was all ready to try some AMSOil until I found that out... I still think they make a good quality oil, just not wanting to run it in my high strung motor.

What about the debris that could be in the oil, with such a small hole to drain, would they get out too??

I'd be a buyer if it wasn't for that fear in the back of my head.. :-)

The hole on the sure drain is big enough that any small metal shavings will come out with the oil. Anything big enough to clog the drain is a sign there is something seriously wrong with your engine.
