I'm not sure if I'd want to use WD-40 since it is also a penetrant, might do some damage to the clear coat. I kept a spray bottle full of water and kept soaking the foam after I had pulled the strips off. It keeps the foam much more plyable while you scrape it off and doesn't seem to hurt your fingers as much. A towel also helps protect your fingers from blisters. It took me around 15 minutes for each rear door and 30 for each front door, then include time for polishing and waxing. Its not a quick job but it is certainly worth the look IMO.
