With every car, you pay for the looks. No one wants an ugly car, and the same "Why not just buy ------ and mod it instead..." works for all but the most inexpensive vehicles. You buy a Ferrari because it looks like a Ferrari. You buy a Z06 because it looks like a Z06. Obviously performance is a necessity but any car can have it, not all can have the look and feel. Another thing the Ferrari price tag allows is excellent quality, which you pay for. Where GM had to save $5.00 on this part and that one to get the Z06 under $60,000...Ferrari did not.

I wonder how much maintenance is on the car. I know a clutch for a Diablo costs around $8,000, and you have to remove the "tiny" engine to install it. And it wears it out pretty fast...

I like the car. Although I would not spend $650,000 on it, even if I could afford it. The carbon fiber interior caught my eye when I picked up the magazine.

I'd like to see someone mod a Z06 to the Enzo's stats and still weigh a bit over 3,000 pounds! Wouldn't and couldn't happen or else you'd end up with a brand new car. Besides, the last car to offer similar power, braking, and weight was $1 million (McLaren F1).

The Enzo isn't meant to be some mass-produced vehicle that even some old 65 year old lady would buy and drive 45 in a 65 zone. This car is for the extreme enthusiast with lots of money.

I don't really like the looks compared to my favorite Ferrari (360 Modena), but I did like this shot from Autoweek last week. I made a wallpaper out of it. (I'm hosting it on my computer, so I only get max upload speeds of about 15k/sec). Enjoy...

But it still comes down to the fact that a z06 doesn't run 11 flat in the 1/4 straight off the showroom floor.

Ferrari really blew it on the styling for this one. Come on, named after the founder of the company and they produce that ugly thing? Autoweek did say it looks much better in person, but I guess I'll have to wait and see.

The performance stats are incredible though. There was talk originally of a 7-speed gearbox but I guess they dropped that.

As for the price to performance issue, there are better cars. Autoweek did an article on the new SL55 AMG. That thing hauls ass (0-60 in 4.5) and it costs $120K. THAT is an incredible car. Ferraris are bought so the owner can think highly of how exclusive his car is.
