Geez John, maybe you should stick to keeping the car clean and loud. That, or we're going to confiscate your car and issue a Zetec ATX in it's place. (You know I love ya man!)

whats wrong with the b&m? Originally posted by chknhwk: Originally posted by fst4dr: Shift at redline
AMEN! And practice. Lots of it. I spent two hours in the staging lanes at Cecil on a Friday night and F'd up royally down the straight. How does 18.79 sound? Always pay attention to what the car is doing. Turns out my B&M wasn't that good for my '98 SVT. It's coming out as soon as I get the stock shifter chopped.

i haven't been to the track yet...i'm gonna wait until i get my flywheel clutch and LSD, but a friend of mine has a 2000 svt with a K&N drop in and a B&M and ran a 14.9 and 15.1 he said he lauched at 2500-3000 range and did not take it to redline...he shifts right around 6500-6600rpm.
he said that when he went to redline he runs like 15.3-15.6 range.
I don't know how true this is, but he said that in the range after the peak power a 6600rpm (so 6600 to redline) it looses power. so waiting that split second looses you time. Shifting earlier gave him better times.

Hardy f'n har. The B&M's are designed for the 98.5's and up. Mine happens to be a '98. Normal everyday driving I don't have any problems but really getting on it it likes to bind going into 2nd and 3rd. First time at the track with this car I posted a 15.7. After Brullen and BAT intake I should be doing better. I thought I could vindicate myself at Atco last Tuesday but I only got a best of 16.1. I figure I'm losing about half a second making double sure I hit every gear going down the track. Soooo, anyone want a B&M slightly used? (Keep it off this thread, just email me) Gonna find a machine shop, anyone that has a decent saw, and chop the stock one.

C'mon John I was beating you at Cecil last year, lol, Anyways man, you know Ive got love for ya, oh and hows your little project comming along. Maybe eventually we'll have to have a meet at my house and you can show it, and maybe we can get a 3L under my hood. But if my dad keeps it up he is gonna make me part it out, even though no way Im going to make the 2G I owe on it yet.

John, have you double checked to make sure that the centering spring is in there correctly? When I first put mine in (and was putting Cartman's stock shifter back in), I had it in there wrong and it really hindered shifting into 2nd. Although, you did show up and save the day on Cartman's. I don't have any of the problems you are mentioning with my shifter (on a very early E0).

I'm wondering if it might be if I am shifting too late. I was thinking about what one person on here said (sorry, I already forgot who it was) about shifting sooner. Maybe the car is falling on its face after shifting at redline. Maybe that's why it is *sluggish*? Or maybe it's because my clutch is going? LOL I can feel it vibrating when I depress it... Felt just like my Mustang and S-10 clutches when they went. Maybe I should just learn how to drive? LOL
