Ive been looking at Battery Relocation kits. One question it seems everyone ive seen has a short ground wire. Are they saying I do not need to run the ground wire all the way up to the front? I can just ground to the rear? Where have you guys been grounding to? Id like to find a nice hole somewhere on the chassis beneath the car if this is the case. Thanks

Mount the ground close to the battery. I Drilled down into the thick part o metal that is directly over the subframe in the rear part of the trunk. Use large self tapping sheet metal screw, preferably with a star washer on both sides of the terminal. I used like 1/4" Sheetmetal screw and I'm workin good. The chassis of you vehicle is the ground as long as your battery's negative is connected to it somewhere. You will also have to re-ground all of the grounds that originally attached to the battery up front to the chassis in a similar manner.

What is the part number for the Summit Battery Relocation kit? I found the SP Motorsports Kit here http://www.spmotorsports.com/contour_battery.html and would like to see the differences.

Both of those kits are trash!
Get a stainless steel battery plate or the Optima bolt down kit. Buy an Optima, buy the wiring from Knu Koncepts and do it yourself. It will be a much safer and nicer setup. I bought the SP kit and sent it back because it was so cheap!

-Andy A bit harsh, but none the less, true. The summit kit is cool in that you get the cables and that, but the box is too big for a Contour bateery and the hold down bracket is a poor design. You're best off buying the box separate from Murray's or Autozone (a small box!) and then buying the cables separate. You will also need to buy the hold down J-bolts and bracket for the battery from Autozone. In the long run it will cost you less than the two kits mentioned above, and will fit better.

Okay guys, I already have an Optima Yellow Top. What would you recommend I get then? What is the Optima kit? I haven't seen that one.

If you call or look at a new summit catalogue they have a new batter hold down thing that runs over a $100 but it's made to hold an optima battery and look really really clean. I have and am waiting to install this SUM-G1201. www.summitracing.com -Andy

Knu can hook you up with all the wire and connectors! All you really need after that is the stainless braket, chrome J-bolts, the Optima, and I woudl suggest a battery acit pad from any local store!

If I go to Autozone will they be able to point me towards the stuff I need? Or do I need to find some part numbers?
