hey guys, i know this may be a bit late from we planned on having this done, but better late than never.

We finally have an exhaust made for the contour. for those that frequent the www.fastcougar.com site, you may know what we offer. the exhaust is a full cat-back, with choice of muffler and tips. we have flowmaster, dynomax, and magnaflow. the tips are cut at 45 deg. and are either chrome or stainless. cost of the kits is the same price as the cougars. $310.00 for aluminized and starting at $460.00 for stainless. check out our webiste for more info. look under the cougars for now, as we have not updated the site for the contour.

we currently have 5 kits in stock, ready to ship, and should have a second batch ready soon.

leave any questions here, or as always feel free to e-mail us. you can also leave questions on the www.fastcougar.com site, im sure MANY people can answer them there as well.

According to Josh, the gain was 8.3hp. The reason for the numbers being so low overall is still unknown...

WHOA, small correction, the reason for the numbers being so low is now known. LOL. the dyno sheet above is about a year old, we recently tested the cougar on another dyno (different machine) and we got some "normal" numbers. although we were unable to dyno the car with and without the catback like our last dyno, we were able to dyno it with the exhaust on, and everything on the car was the same. we were able to acheive a much more "normal" number, we got about 149.1 at the wheels.

i know this doesnt say what the exhaust got, but it atleast it let us know the car was okay. LOL

even though the first dyno was wrong, since we did use the same dyno for each setup, we can still come up with the cat-back making about 8HP at the wheels. this is for a cougar.

i will try to have pics, clips, and dyno numbers for the contour soon. for now, the pics on our website of the cougar kits, are almost identical. i can describe the sound as LOUD. this was using a contour with a high-flow y-pipe though.

we will most likly be offering a kit with a 50 series flowmaster, to quiet it down. the cost may change for that muffler though.

Is there any noticeable sound difference between aluminized and Stainless?

And how does the exhaust note compare to Bassani?

HEH, there is no sound difference at all between the two types of material. we offer the aluminized kits, in order to make the exhaust cheaper to afford. the only difference is the life of the pipe. aluminized steel is just like factory car tubing, it usually lasts about 5 years before any signs of wear occur. we do recommend stainless kits for those who live up north. otherwise aluminized kits will last along time, even longer in the south. smile

From the dual exhaust pics of the cougar I don't see a resonator and only 1 muffler. Is this the same setup for the Contour? Also the Y-slpit looks exactly the same as the current SVT split which no ones likes. Is it different?

spectra, having not been to these forums often, im not quite sure what people dont like about the Y split. if you can help me out on this, that would be great. anyhow, the contour kit is similar to the pictures of the cougar kits. there is a split at the rear (the Y). the contour kit does have one muffler in the center and no resonators. we are working on another kit with resonators for those who would like them.

hope this helps

thanks

The Y split on the SVT is very abrupt like the pics shown for the cougar. Basically the split dead ends to a flat spot then goes to duals. I don't think I'm making much sense here? It uses a T configuration. Are the pics decieving in that the split is smoother or is it an abrupt split?
