The part number from autozone.com is B 125-1910 This guy is supposed to be the GMB rep for your area, he should be able to tell you which parts place has it http://www.marcalan.com/Address: 10 Route 4 River Edge, NJ 07661 Phone: 201-487-8400 Fax: 201-487-8396 Serving MD, Metro NY, DE, NJ and Eastern PA This was from the GMB website, hope it helps.
When I bought my 1995 Contour I always joked I would drive it until the wheels fell off...never did I realize that with this car, that could actually happen!

yea well I guess that the parts dealer his shop uses does not deal with those guys. anyway I suspect that they already have the part for the car and besides my shop is trying to get my car ready by this evening and not next week or something.

Shop charge for wp/coolant flush/thermostat will be about 3 1/2 hours plus parts.
You don't say if AAMCO is doing wp but I believe them to be blameless, just unfortunate coincidence. Weakness in OEM plastic pump impeller the problem, not crud in coolant.

I wonder what my total cost will be?
now let us see 1) water pump APORA-NEW B 125-1910 LLT $69.99 2) thermostat STANT MEDIUM TEMPERATURE 14138 $15.09 3) some engine coolant maybe $20 bucks
that totals $105
so where is the other $245 coming from.
must be a service charge with maybe 75/hour labor 3.5 hours
what do you moderators think? Is this a good estimate?
I wonder what the actual costs will be?
Will let you guys know once I get the shock (translated the bill) 2.5 hours from now

Keep old thermostat, bring to a boil in pot of water and make sure it's ok. Doubtful it was a problem and would have preferred to see it stay in service. Not sure the replacement will be the proper temperature, most are marked with specific temperatures; not low, medium and high.

I have 'cured' an overheating engine problem, by freeing up the (mickey mouse) belt tensioner which sticks in one position allowing the belt to run, but not 'turning' the water pump. I now check the tensioner every Spring!

The CD4E transmission has a filter, but it is embedded deep inside the transmission for some reason known only to Ford. Thus it is very advisable to buy an external inline oil filter (eg, www.permacool.com) and do a complete fluid change annually. The transmissions are rated only slightly above the US AXOD Taurus transmissions, and so the use of cheapest-brand full-synthetic annually may be advisable since some problems are as much design as overheating related.

There is NO FILTER in the contour tranny, there is a screen, buried deep inside the transmission. It is NOT serviceable.
The difference between a filter and a screen, is the size of particulate matter ti allows through. The screen only prevents large pieces of suspended matter from flowing, but does not stop normal metal particles from tranny wear.
