You might look into getting the brullen or borla exhaust at perfomancefords.com. just an idea- you would end up spending roughly the same amount of money- (i think)

Sorry I haven't been online in some time.. I CUT OFF my muffler, I have an ATX... I put a straight 2" pipe with a STOCK looking chrome tip at the end... so it looks like a muffler is still there, same distance with the new pipe/tip under the GFX... This gives the car a more agressive sound... and quite when you aren't on the engine reving it up past 2500 rpms... In total, I think this cost me $3.99 for the 2" straight pipe and $8.99 for the tip.. and (2) $1.99 clamps... in total, around $18.** with tax... ALOT better than buying a $100 + part to get the same sound...
more MODZ in the near future ;]
probably suspension first...

Now onto the WRX crash... the car has VERY crappy tires/rims, the thing drives like it's on donuts... the suspension also needs to be replaced. I am sure if both of these were replaced at 0 miles, this wouldn't have happened. The ABS was ok.. but the brakes I THINK need to be a little bigger.

IMHO, bigger brakes would not have stopped you from sliding, in fact it would probably have locked up faster and you would have slid quicker... -Nick

98' Contour SE V6 ATX 37,220 Did you remove the rear muffler and the center muffler? (also known as the resonator) I have only heard a few of the cars that have done that. Sounds OK but is highly illegal here. I think I am going to stick with a high performance muffler. We have emissions and all that here- not to mention if a shop did that here and got caught they would be fined and possibly shut down. Good ole EPA. Worried about the air.

I "lost" my rear muffler and replaced it w/ straight pipe...sounds nice, didn't notice any performance. Do it if you can live with the illegality.
I'd like to clean out the cats, res, etc, build a true hi-flow cold-air and get a chip programmed for these mods..anyone done this? Which chip?

If you leave the center res and delete the muffler you may notice more noise, but you won't find any power increase. The center res is a horrid desgn that flow worse than a straw from Burger King .

You can hit your brakes infinitely hard if you're going in a straight line.. you just can't turn at the same time. The stock brakes on my wifes WRX aren't as good as the mintex pads on my 'tour but it would be quite difficult to get that out of control from 50mph
