Is this DMD heavier than what its replacing? Seems like everybody wants to lighten up there pullies, and now one comes out that s/b heavier since there is an extra piece on it, and everybody loves it.
Should we notice any performance decline because of the DMD? Im sure the smoothness of the revs and the reduced chances of 'crank whip' negate that, but im just wondering.

Ditto! WOW. Unbelievable. So smooth gotta watch tach to keep from hitting brick wall of limiter.
Yes, heavier, but so, so, so smooth. Besides, not sure of the dynamics of being at that end of crank. Sure doesn't seem to affect how mine pulls revs. In fact, w/much lighter flywheel I put on at same time,m it hits 6750 so fast I can't believe it!

The mass is all pretty close to the axis of rotation, so not much extra rotational drag I guess. I'm not worried -I ordered mine today

Is this DMD heavier than what its replacing? DemonSVT check weights - DMD is 1 lb heavier than stock damper. Because it is a small radius pulley it will have much less effect of reving/power than say 1lb added or lost from a large radius flywheel for example. Basically negligable change in the speed in which the engine spools up. Infact, several companies than make aftermarket dampers (such as Fluidamper) claim power increases from reduced crank bending friction. Not to mention the REAL value here - less wear on bearings the "Achilles Heel" of the Duratec. Extra smoothness is just a nice side effect. Runs smooth as a BMW now (seriously).

I posted these questions yesterday, maybe the server maintenance made them go bye-bye. A previous post said that Ford dealers would install these? Should I trust them? I'd prefer the work be done by a dealer. Or is there a garage you can recommend in Cleveland, Terry? I just want to figure out who's gonna put it in before I buy it. Brian Dors 99 SVT

Any decent mechanic that understands Ford's torquing procedures and a lift makes it awhole lot easier. My cousin shop manager/mechanic of tranmission shop (Mansfield) helped me do mine. The hardest part for me was getting the poly-v back on. Don't forget the RTV silicon in the keyway. Paul
I'd sweare my motor feels even smoother on the bottom end, also??? Paul
