I used tools... Don't know about the right tools... I used all that I had and that worked... I used Zip Ties to hold the cams in place. It is a little intimidating but well worth the knowledge you will pull out of it... If you have any questions feel free to drop me a line I will e-mail you my Number if you have any questions... Good Luck..

I figure all of the tools aren't absolutely necessary since Ford tends to invent tools that aren't totally necessary in order to make a job seem more difficult than it is. But when it comes to my engines timing I don't like taking chances. I'd greatly appreciate a number so I could call you if I run into anything.

Kind of like Honda'a VTEC, just a bit more basic.
The VCT is an emissions thing. Replaces the EGR. VTEC is more for power but I'm sure it helps emissions too. Sorry for getting offtopic.

I paid 300$CDN(200orlessUS) to replace 1)the timing belt(I bought 60$CDN), 2)the fan belt(He Supplied), 3)missing springs and bolts from the timing belt(YIKES! no wonder it was slapping the cover ), 4)also a new water pipe(he suppied), so 250$ US seems like a bit much to me. That's quite the run on sentence isn't it?

Believe it or not, the spring and bolt on the tensioner are supposed to be missing. Once the tensioner is tightened down, you could take the spring and bolt back out again if you wanted, without affecting operation.
