Hey-
I got a quote for just the belt and it was $236 ($180 labor plus $56 for the belt) plus an additional $60 to do the EGR valve (I have the valve) with no surcharge on using my part making the total ~$300. Is this a fair price?

$236 is much better than the quotes of $350-$450 here in Wyoming I got.

I did my w/p a few weeks ago. Had to take the timing belt off to get to it. Its a decent, time consuming job, but if you trust yourself with tools, not hard.

$300 is about what I paid when I had the w/p done last year.

I have to do mine soon. Might wait though. Some big mods plans might be in the works.

I tried doing the EGR valve with PA 3L SVT and we did not succeed . I figure I may as well take it to a shop. This is a place that my GF and her family use all the time so they are trustworthy. I will need to wait a few weeks before I can do it.

I never thought the EGR was that hard to replace. Thank God I don't have one.

There is a threaded nut that is a PITA to replace. You need a certain size crows foot to get to it, and nobody sells it

I had my timing belt and accessory belt replaced for $220something through my mechanic. So I don't think that is too far off base.

Oh, you guys will love this...last week I called a near by Ford dealer and asked the service writer what the labor was for replacing the timing belt in my car.....are you ready for this?...........

.......$350!!!! .........

I almost fell out of my seat, thats JUST for the labor of the belt...not to mention changing the three pulleys and the cost of the parts! I almost asked him if that came with a set of new tires or something for that price, he probably wouldn't have thought it was very funny though.
