... This is dragging. The stupid thing let me down again on the Bonaventure tonight. Lucky I had some fuses with me to get it to my parking spot. Mucho smoke coming outta the driver's side windshield wiper cowl, main wiring harness passes there... everything melted again. Car's going to the dealership on Tuesday morning.. on a flatbed I've about had it with that junk.

Pascal, what is making it short? it seemed like you had everything ran perfect. is the gauge of the wire to small to transport the power. maybe running the wire hot? I have 0 gauge which is big enough But, you have a stereo and so on, maybe it is drawing to much from that wire for the distance it is going. have you felt the wire? Hot? well just wanted to throw some idea's

Micah, my battery is relocated to the trunk... Those wires are fine there's a short somewhere else, in the car's wiring harness. When I hit a bump it grounds and the fuses blow. Wires melt too. It's all repairable but it's gonna take them a lot of time. I told them to keep the car until they found the cause instead of patching it quick. I'm looking at a couple weeks at least. I'm still under warranty so everything is done at the dealership. She'll be as good as new when she comes out, she's just got a new IAC valve and they will probably change the power steering pump while they're at it. The seals started to let go so they're gonna swap it out. I've got that brand new alternator on since NY as well, I think the car should be good for another couple hundred miles..

Bummer, I was trying everything for the dealer to change mine, but they wrote it off. It seemed okay, untill I changed the spark plugs. You see some wiring in bad shape, and you want to change it. But the best way is to get the full job. It costs alot, but it would reduce the amount of times bringing it too the dealer. If anything goes in the wiring harness, I will just get a new one, if the cash is alive. Anyways, meet up with us anyways, if the car is not ready. It will make it more a thought to meet in 3 weekends after. So drive the other car. This contour of mine is the only car with us. Your lucky to have a second car. So the big question I ask is what do you think about Donalley's Ford service?
I heard too many bad things about Kanata's ford service, so I won't change. There was a newfie working at DOnn. and he bent over backwards to give me service. After I lost him, it has been less. Not to diss anyone there, for people need to learn too. But I want a thread to be produced about the best service for our contours. Any takers. Later Fred

Don't even consider Donnelly's. Go to Campbell first or Lincoln Heights.
Pascal, I'm surprised they work on the car under warranty considering all of the modification to the wiring - Awesome! Hope they find and fix the problem before the weekend.
Good luck.

Harry,
No modifications to the wiring harness, really. The only difference is that my battery is in the trunk. If the main harness chafes against the firewall and shorts there it's got nothing to do with where the battery is installed.
There is a short somewhere, and it ground whn I hit a bump. They are taking the car in the shop some time this week, I told them to keep it all month if they have to, I really want the root cause of this problem to be fixed.
I'm still doing the meet this weekend, but I'll be in my "rental" car.. :p

Don't even consider Donnelly's. Go to Campbell first or Lincoln Heights I went to Donnelly's for an alignment on my T-Bird SC, and they tried to tell me all my control arms had to go. All but one had just passed the safety, and the bad one was replaced. I took it home and tightened the bolt they loosened to make it seem like I needed work. I still buy parts there though. They're open until midnight.
