I've been way too busy myself for any fun car stuff.

As Cap'n Bart knows, I just had a set of 225/50/16 KDWs installed on my 99 SVT.

The car is currently at Campbell Ford, where they are trying to figure out, and hopefully, fix whatever caused my left front tire to wear down to almost nothing immediately after they performed a 46-point check and a wheel alignment.

I would've replaced just the one tire, but BF Goodrich could not find a 215/50/16 anywhere. They did give me an adjustment on the three that were okay, so I paid $260 for one, and $140 each for the other three, installed and balanced.

It's interesting that the tread pattern on the 225s is a bit different from the 215 size that came as OE on the car. Apparently, the 215 is the only size that has that particular pattern, which is the one you see illustrated on the tirerack.com site.

On the 225s (and all other sizes), the diagonal grooves on the outside of the tire line up much more closely with the diagonal grooves in the next section of the tire, if you know what I mean.

Anyway, they look good, and after a bit of driving around, including a ride with me and two other big guys and their golf clubs, no sign of any rubbing anywhere with the bigger size.

I think my next investment will be brakes. I don't want to spend a ton of money, but I'd like to at least find some higher-quality rotors.

Can you buy rotors that'll fit these cars just about anywhere, or would I have to order them from a speciality shop?
