I still haven't got the e-RAM installed, but I did start installing the switch for it... and I discovered that they use a cheap flimsy switch.

I think I'm going to make an electronic switch triggered by the throttle position sensor. Something like this:

96 GL Zetec ATX, white with pinstripe, nickname " Sam Smooth "
mods so far: CTA intake with homemade heat shield, KVR drilled front rotors & carbon pads w/ 500° fluid
planned mods: exhaust (want to keep it quiet), e-ram (awaiting installation), diablo chip
involuntary mods: compression increased after head gasket failure

not sure about how the Zetec is setup but I would mount the E-Ram unit after the MAF (if there is one - this proves how little I know about our 4 banger cousins) Brad (on his duratec) said he had some stumbling and idle issues with it mounted in front of the MAF. Just throwing it out there

When you do get around to installing the ERam I would be interested in seeing some pics.
I will be ordering one as soon as I get paid.

I dunno, some CEGers had poor results with them. From what they say on its site, the CTA intake pipe should make an ideal home for it (between MAF and IAT), so I have good hopes, but if I get poor results, that could be good grounds to reconsider buying it.

That's why I like this site sooo much.
Everybody is willing to be or has been a guinea pig.
I know a guy that put one on his Civic.
Gave like 7HP at the wheels peek.
Averaged around 4HP across the RPM band.

I figure since the Zetec only has like 130HP to start with every little amount counts.

How heavy is that thing anyway?

The e-RAM? It weighs very little, less than the rubber couplings you stick it into your intake pipe with. The outer housing was originally metal, now it's thin plastic and you have to make sure not to tighten the hose clamps onto it too hard or the fan blades will rub.

My electric switch is built now, by the way -- a tiny circuit board, fit inside a film can for protection from the elements -- but I still haven't found time to install it. It's more important to bleed the brakes first, since I'm going to the Sierras in a few weeks, and I want the high temperature fluid in there. The local wheel shop refused to flush the fluid because they didn't want to take the chance of the high temperature fluid being incompatible.
