Ford calls it BAP. Barometric Air Pressure. I am looking at it now on the '02 Lightning. EEC-V has provisions for it, electrically. All you need to do it load the code for it :p [/b]
Thats 1 piece to the puzzle. Now for bonus points.What else does the ECU do to accomodate the use of BAP? laugh Oh and EEC-IV also accomodates BAP. wink

FPR (Fuel rail pressure) sensor. It tells the difference between the fuel rail pressure and the pressure/vacuum on the intake manifold. Pretty neat stuff.

There are MANY sensors that tell the PCM how much fuel to pump out and when. And when to trigger the coil, etc. Then we have to mess with environmental maps and all kinds of crazy stuff. %75 Of which is required by the EPA.

That may be on the new Lightning and Cobra, but there are NO fuel rail sensors on any other pressurized Fords. :p Think about the BAP. What type system uses BAP? wink

Lightning is a return-type fuel system. Not sure on the '03 Cobra. EPA says cars need to have returnless, I guess.

I dont think the EPA has anything to do with returnless. I have it on very good word wink that the car company's do it to save money. Kinda like what GM did in the early 70's by only using 2 bolts to hold on the carburator when they realy need 4. I really dont understand the fuss about returnless fuel systems. Some of my friends and I havent had any trouble turbocharging returnless systems. In fact one of the cars we turboed only took 30 minutes to take care of the retunless fuel thing, and that included droping the fuel tank. Woah were getting off the subject here. wink Lets get back to the ECU and BAP subject, no one has answered the qeustion. What allows the Ford ECU to use a MAF and a BAP and run a pressurized intake? wink
