wow that is great news and good to hear...i agree that paying 2000+ fora potential 32 hp or so increase would be well worth the money...hell im looking at that much for the 3.0 to get an extra 30 hp so its about the same....
my only problem is being so far away from level 10 that i'd have to buy the parts and hope someone here is competent enough to do the install(s) for me

Ahh, well no - the Level 10 mods will not give 3L power gains. They do a nice job on ATX trannys for sure but I think 10-12% loss is a bit overstated. It is almost unheard of for an ATX to be more efficient that a MTX which are no more than 13-17% inefficient (about 15%). I would believe you could approach (best caes senerio) 15-17% from the stock Contour ATX 22-25% or maybe +14-16 HP @ the wheels assuming you were making 200 crank HP. Not a bad bonus in addition to better shifting & durability but not 3L power gains.

Dan you are absolutely right there is no replacement for displacement. On the other hand Level Ten is not your average tranny shop they have installed transmissions on some of the fastest street legal cars in the world including: 8Sec Impalas SS's, 9sec Supras,10sec lexus's, 10sec Lightnings and that is just the beginning. Their reputation throughout the racing world is second to none and believe it or not some of their custom designed completely handbuilt from scratch tranny's can operate at an astounding 3% drivetrain loss. I completely intend to dyno and run my car in the 1/4 in the upcoming weeks, I'm not a troll that is trying to ignite flames on these boards b/c I have relied on them for so much of my info in the past. No more speculation, its put up or shut up time, I'm ready to prove a point!

I'm definitely going to be having this work done within the next couple of months. I've been on the fence about it, but now I'm convinced.
I don't believe that it will improve driveline loss more than slightly (perhaps 2-3% from the new torque converter). The dyno operator at Crazy Horse Racing said that he had his the tranmission in his race truck overhauled by level 10 to full race specs and to support over 800 horsepower. He said the shifting was great, but he was still losing the same ~28% when he re-dynoed his car.
But that's OK. I'm already putting down the power I want in spite of the losses. I've heard that going to slightly higher viscosity transmission fluid (and keeping the fluid cool with aux. cooler) will help reduce torque converter losses a bit... just FYI.

Just curious, but why doesn't Leven Ten list the CD4E code with any of the products on their site?
