After many months of deliberation, I have finally decided to go with a Turbo instead of doing a 3.0l motor. Of course this is going to cost more $$$$ but I discussed today, with a local company that builds Turbo Mustangs, but can turbocharge just about anything with a motor. We have discussed going all out, in the sense of a stand alone computer, 24lb injectors, water cooled T3 hybrid turbo with ceramic bearings, intercooler, and so on. No MAF will be used with the stand alone computer. I explained to the owners that I do not wish to go any higher than 6 to 6.5 psi of boost as I don't want to hear a kabooooom from the engine bay. My goal is to see around 300 + HP, but hopefully safely with no melt down. Hope it works out. My SVT will have to be off the road for about 8 weeks as the kit will be built from scratch. As I am not as knowledged about doing this modification, I will rely on the shop to make the right choices for me.

What is this shop charging you? Could you just wait a week or two for us to show dyno numbers on our kit that is already engineered? Less downtime for your SVT and less $$$.
Just a thought. Good luck with whatever avenue you choose.

No MAF? How are you going to know how much air is going into the engine?

Just a thought. Good luck with whatever avenue you choose. Chris Given the additional extras that the performance shop are including, I am really only waiting on a final price. I will be purchasing a Centerforce clutch and a Torsen diff and the shop will be installing those as well as the doing the turbo kit. Intial costs, given the currency exhange rate and all the other fees and taxes I would have to pay to get your kit across the border, for a percentage more (based on initial estimates, I can have the kit built for me locally. I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but given the option of going with a stand alone computer is very tempting. I have only one issue. Since my SVT has factory traction control, I may lose this feature, when going with a stand alone computer. If that is the case, then I will discuss about going with any kit that will continue to use the stock computer, or see if the TC can still be used with a stand alone engine management system.

traction control is a deciding factor in your choice of turbo kits? Pick what's b etter for your engine my friend...the TC is useless anyway
