Good news bad news. The rpoblems was the spark plug wires. My 15 year old son who helped me with this installed the #5 & 6 wires wrong. Bad news is immediately afer we got this problem solved and teh motor running it appaers that the oil pump took a shizy. I drove the car about 2000 feet and the oil light came on and the valves started to clatter, pulled over and shut it down. Removed the oil fill can and white smoke came pouring out. Crankcase is full of oil, started motor and no OIL TO THE HEADS. Crap!

Hmmm, a little too coinicidental that the oil pump would take a shiz that quickly after the vortech install. Any chance you got metal filings in the pan when tapping it for the oil return? How about double checking to make sure nothing fell in when you attached the oil feed for the vortech? Any chance it starved from oil and seized on you as well?
Not sounding good at the moment. Keep us posted.

Jim I agree, the symtoms were the same as a poorly installed chip. The difference is that Vortech installs the chip and tests it before the ECU leaves their shop. That equals less of a chance of a chip problem. The spark at the plugs also rules out chip as an improperly installed chip kills the ignition module, but still lets the engine crank. rick lee: Good luck figuring out the oiling issue. Pull the pan and check out the oil pick up tube. I'll bet that's you problem as Buckshot stated. Now just hope that the bearings weren't killed off... You could replace the rod bearings with the pan off while you're in there if you wanted to, but the mains are stuck in there until you pull the motor.

Rick, very sorry to hear that. I had the exact same conversation when I plumbed in my accusump with Terry. Very hard mistake to learn I know.
Are you in the market for a new engine now since this one has been oil starved or are you thinking of rebuilding this one? I happen to have a low mileage 2000 SVT engine for sale. Swap over your fuel rail and you're in good shape. Let me know what you think.

Are you planning to put your S/C on the 2.8L setup?

Yes I plan to SC the new motor. I got the water injection system today and a think that I am going to run NOS as well. If the water injection works well the next step is to boost 15 if I can with the Vortech SC. They say it will and I want o find out if it can. I am hoping that Terry gets the new UIM done that he has been working on soon. I may wait until the UIM are finished before I try NOS.
