Demon I know this is the case. I have built and modified several turbo systems. The latest header I built for my work car uses full a lenght header that the turbo bolts to. I have full boost by 2600 RPM [14 lbs.]and when it comes on its like a freight train rearends you. The engine is a 2L. DSM[4 banger] If you size the piping correctly that will help tremendously, make the piping to large and you will lose velocity and that will cause problems. smile

Well, if you want my honest opinion, I think Chris should go for an equal length shorty header for this turbo charger application. Point them downwards and have them collect somewhere around the removed battery location. There is room. The duratech is a fine tuned engine. Let's have a fine tuned turbocharger system.

Let's hear from Chris. Why the log manifold?

Wait just a minute! My part of the discussion was not and is not in any way meant to be input as to how Chris does his turbo system! I was only trying to talk about subjects that were brought up in an overall way. Chris can build his how he wants. You can get 10 guy's in a room that are building a turbo system and you will have at least 9 but more than likely 10 different systems. There is more than one way to skin a cat and thats the point. I have been misunderstood before and I do not want that to happen again! Do not take anything I have said and use it to try to change the course of what Chris wants to do. This is his system! and I am not trying nor will I be used in some sort of uprising here. You do your own research and make your own argument, but please leave me and what I have said out of it. I'm not sure that is what is happening here, However I want to be perfectly clear "I am not trying to start a rebellion I was only trying to talk about subjects that were brought up! That is all" smile

One thing I am wondering a bit about, L's in fluid pipes usually are bad right? I just got a lecture from an ME prof about this on the formula SAE car I am working on.

Oh yeah here is a good page on variable intake etc. (I couldn't find it when I posted before)

By L's do you mean very short radius 90 degree bends? or as the L implies just a very abrupt change of direction 90 degrees? smile smile

Have you ever looked under the hood of a Contour with a V6? That last statement leads me to believe not. As for the statement about "lets have a quality turbo kit" I think the kit will speak for itself in a very short time.

It's all fun to talk about a turbo system, but when professional engineering decisions get questioned, it gets ugly. Have any of you ever met a member of the SAE? laugh

I've said this before, and I feel I have to say this again. This is not the "CEG Turbo Kit". If it was, then you get to design it.

This kit is being made because I personally received over 80 emails stating people WOULD pay for this, and where REALLY serious about putting one on their car. I had about $40,000 worth of promised deposits. How much have we received?? Lets just say this is a charity case right now, with a rediculous amount of optimism on all involved.

If you are purchasing the turbo kit, you get to complain about what you purchase.
