Does anyone know anything about Subies? I have a 87 Subaru XT AWD turbo and I was wondering if I could yank the turbo out of it and have some custom piping made up and install it into my Tour. Does anyone know what kind of turbo it is and what kind of boost it puts out stock and what my power might be without an intercooler? I know the turbo is still good so how much do you think a shop might charge to mount it into the engine bay and make all the neccassary plumbing?

very possible, but lots o' cash to have a shop do it.
I don't remember what size turbo is on the old scoobys, but it may be completely wrong size for your car, but then again it may not.
fwiw, I'm planning on stuffing a couple of turbos from old thunderbirds into my cobra.

Rara, On a side note, Im helping a buddy do the same thing to an older 5.0... are you going to go with a recalibrated blow through MAF from Pro-M and new chip for it, or are you going to go carb?
Just curious... I know the Cobra's are different than the old 5.0's

I know all the newer scoobys use IHI turbos do you know if they did one the older ones too? The XT has a DOHC 1.8L so it's not that much smaller than the 2.0L Zetec. I only paid $75 for the whole car from my neighbor and the only thing wrong with it is it needs a timing belt. I was going to pull the engine out of it anyway and drop a 2.7L XT-6 or a 3.0L SVX engine in it and have it twin turboed and use it for drag racing. Plus my Sundance has a turbo too and it is a 2.5L would that turbo work? I was thinking of giving that car to my little sister and I think my mom would like me better if I didn't give her a turboed car. I have a spare non turbo 2.5L from a 91 Caravan to drop in it anyway. Any ideas guys? I just thought about all of this a couple days ago and it's making me want to turbo my car even more than before. I'll still eventually buy Terry's kit but I just want a little something to tide me over till then. Then when I get Terry's turbo I'll sell this to some other CEGer that can't afford Terry's turbo. I just said Terry's turbo a lot didn't I?

remey How many miles do you have on the Sundance 2.5, I need a 2.5 Bottom end for my 2.2, if it is in good shape. Or you even planning on selling it? The scooby would proabably be a good project for a amatuer rally car...? Is it intercooled? An intercooler would allow you to up your boost on it, does it hav an external wastegate?

Sorry I actually just sold the whole car to my neighbor so I could get the tour out of the shop. I still have those cams you PMed me about though. I check to see which ones they are, I know they are the ones that say racing only on their website. I only had them in the car for a week before I went with the Mopar performance ones. I wouldn't use them on a daily driver that's why I switched them back out. The power gain was phenomenal but the idle went to hell in a hand basket. Plus they are pretty noisey through the dynomax cat back. If you are still interested in the cams I'll go look at the box and get back to you.

Just curious... I know the Cobra's are different than the old 5.0's sorry, missed this for awhile anyway, my Cobra actually isn't that different from "an older 5.0" It is a 94 and has a 302 w/ the iron GT40 heads and Cobra intake (basically a cast version of the GT40) anyway, I am gonna do a blow through MAF along w/ some recalibration, I definately do not want to go carb (personal preference and knowldge) I am gonna try to make it work w/ the stock MAF at least for awhile (I have a few tricks up my sleeve) my goal for the first phase is to keep engine bay appearing as stock as possible, despite the presence of 2 T3s.
